It is clear from your question that you work in a place where there is mixing with men. Mixing leads to many evils and things that are forbidden, as is clear to anyone who has insight. Please see question no. 1200 for the evidence that mixing is haraam.
Trustworthy scholars have issued fatwas ruling that it is haraam to work in mixed environments, such as the statement in Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah (12/156): Mixing between men and women in schools and elsewhere is a great evil which has a serious impact on one's religious commitment and worldly interests. It is not permissible for a woman to study or work in a place where there is mixing between men and women, and it is not permissible for her guardian to give her permission to do that. End quote.
Please see question no. 6666: Should she carry on working in a job where she mixes with men?
Well.. JazakAllahu khairan for your support.. And that's exactly why I never worked in the field of my study.. (management).. Except once.. for 2 weeks.. I taught.. With women.. & right now, I'm not working.. Alhamdulillah..
Mhm... please forgive if I could harm anyone, but I don't think so. Maybe it could be good in some environments, but working with men DOESN'T mean "mixing with".
For my personal hobbies and profession, I've been always sharing more time with guys than girls. Even since I was a child. And Alhamdulillah maybe that's the reason why I can preserve my female identity and my modesty _and that's important for most women, not only muslimatis and not only when I didn't feel myself as one.
In my last job I had to teach young men and never felt it as a danger, the same in my sport practice, where there are 6 women in 100 men school. At Junta Islámica we work and pray togheter _respecting the space for Islam, and nobody looks at the other one with desire. We have no time for! ... And the same happened to me when I entered College, it's what happens when you are kinda "pioneer" in places that were monopolized by men untill 10 years ago.
Nevertheless, it's true that I've had to avoid some encounters or works where I could feel it was not the best thing to do. Again, this happened before my shahada and after it.
As for the fatwa, not in my mind reject a scholar, but we should remember that Khadijah, Aixa, Umm Salama and later Fatimah (Alhamdulillah for their lives and teachings to us) taught men, compiled hadiths, even went to battle for Allah and were recognized by men around them... and they well-preserved their diginity.
So, Sara sister, if you feel uncomfortable in a mixed work environment _or whatever environment, give it away. Although maybe that you will find in the future a place to work or anything where men and women behaviour halal. Have faith in Allah and The Highest will show you the best in each moment. Allah is the Greatest, not Iblis :)
